With its emphasis on a service economy Las Vegas has a population with a lower average level of education than much of the rest of the U.S. That statistic could change with all the higher education opportunities becoming available.
Las Vegas, being a city of specialized and unique business opportunities, is obliged to offer college degrees and specialized training that will teach the skills necessary to fill the employment positions that are available in the fastest-growing city in the United States.
University of Nevada—Las Vegas (UNLV)
The largest and best-known school in the Las Vegas area is the University of Nevada—Las Vegas.
UNLV offers a wide range of courses, from business to the arts-over 200 undergraduate, master's and doctorial degree programs.
A Bachelor in Fine Arts Dance allows for those interested in the subject to take not only technique classes, but also choreography, production, theater and even classes like Sex, Dance and Entertainment, a class that looks at sexual derivation and evolution of social, street and fads dances from 1900 to today.
UNLV has a nationally recognized and competitive intramural athletic program. The university was founded in 1957 and currently serves more than 27,000 students on it's 337-acre campus.
And while many other schools also offer traditional courses in engineering, medicine, law and the like, there are dozens of schools that focus on more creative forms of higher education.
