Schools of Higher Education in Las Vegas & Southern Nevada

With its emphasis on a service economy Las Vegas has a population with a lower average level of education than much of the rest of the U.S. That statistic could change with all the higher education opportunities becoming available.

UNLV sports track with view of the StripLas Vegas, being a city of specialized and unique business opportunities, is obliged to offer college degrees and specialized training that will teach the skills necessary to fill the employment positions that are available in the fastest-growing city in the United States.

University of Nevada—Las Vegas (UNLV)

The largest and best-known school in the Las Vegas area is the University of Nevada—Las Vegas.
UNLV College of Hotel Administration buildingUNLV offers a wide range of courses, from business to the arts-over 200 undergraduate, master's and doctorial degree programs.
Lied Library building at UNLVA Bachelor in Fine Arts Dance allows for those interested in the subject to take not only technique classes, but also choreography, production, theater and even classes like “Sex, Dance and Entertainment,” a class that looks at sexual derivation and evolution of social, street and fads dances from 1900 to today.
Cox Pavilion at UNLVUNLV has a nationally recognized and competitive intramural athletic program. The university was founded in 1957 and currently serves more than 27,000 students on it's 337-acre campus.
And while many other schools also offer traditional courses in engineering, medicine, law and the like, there are dozens of schools that focus on more creative forms of higher education.

IADT—Las Vegas

Fashion Design—learn design, sourcing and using textiles, marketing and production. Graduates will have developed a professional portfolio.

IADT computer equiped classroomVisual Communication—study animation and multimedia. Develop skills and knowledge for jobs including graphic designer, illustrator, production artist and web designer.
Creativity is the no. 1 requirement for IADT, which has day, evening and weekend classes and offers financial aid as well as job placement assistance.

Le Cordon Bleu

Most casinos and hotels have within them high-end restaurants, so chefs and cooks are in high demand. Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts Las Vegas is just one of many cooking schools in the city.
Students learn classical methods of cooking, qualitative aspect of food preparation, which include nutrition and sanitation, and they may also study restaurant operations and management. Upon completion, students receive an Associate of Occupational Science Degree and placement assistance.

Casino Gaming School

Gaming schools are very popular in Las Vegas, as gambling is legal and casinos are always in search of qualified and trust-worthy dealers.
Casino Gaming SchoolCasino Gaming School is a school where individual courses can be completed between 100-200 hours.
Students can choose to learn Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Pai Gow Poker, Baccarat or a combination of games, and can create personalized class schedules that won't conflict with pre-existing jobs or schooling. Professional Fitness Institute

Being trim and fit is critical in Las Vegas, so a great career would be a certified personal trainer or licensed massage therapist-training. You can get your license in less than six months at Professional Fitness Institute. The course schedules are flexible, and online education is another option. As an added benefit, students get fit while learning about exercise, nutrition and weight loss/gain.
