The United States of America led the way in protecting, preserving and making available to the general public unspoiled natural resources of national importance.
Although the National Park Service was not established until 1916 more than 30 national parks and monuments had already been designated begining with Hot Springs (Arkansas) by President Andrew Jackson in 1832, Yosemite Valley (California) by President Abraham Lincoln in 1864 and Yellowstone (Wyoming) by Congress in 1872.
With nearly 400 National Parks, Monuments, Memorials, Seashores, Lakeshores, Battlefields, Wild and Scenic Rivers and Trails scattered throughout the country it is not possible to cover every location in detail.
What you will find here are sites that I have personally visited and photographed. Informative descriptions, links to additional resourses and, where appropriate, maps are included.
Many of the pages linked below are part of another destination on iNeTours.com (such as the Statue of Liberty in New York City). To return here you may need to follow the National Parks link at the very top of every page.
