One of the most popular, fun, informative and memorable ways to spend time sightseeing in New York City is by classic double-decker, hop-on, hop-off guided bus tour.

 I've had the opportunity to sample the majority of the following tours (also see my photo essay on open-top double-decker bus tours around the world). Many of the photos on this site were shot from the upper-decks and I appreciate the ability to hop-on or hop-off as often as you like to explore, dine and shop at New York attractions.
When you're ready to continue, just hop back on the NYC bus tour! Many combination tour tickets are valid for 48 hours or more. The hard part is deciding which tour to take so I've provided a chart and other information to simplify the decision:

New York Double Decker Downtown Loop
 The 2 to 3 hour Gray Line New York City Double Decker Downtown Loop takes you downtown Manhattan including stops near Greenwich Village, Times Square, the Empire State Building, as well as the Union Square shopping district, Rockefeller Center, the World Trade Center site, and the New York City Police Museum.
You will see the Flatiron building, browse the shops in the Union Square shopping districts and Soho, visit Chinatown, Little Italy, the Lower East Side, East Village, Rockefeller Center and more.
Ticket valid for 24-hours, allowing you to hop on/hop off at any point along the way.

NYC Uptown Double Decker Bus Tour
 On this 2+ hour Gray line tour you can hop off at Central Park and enjoy a carriage ride. Stop by Lincoln Center, or go window-shopping through Fifth Avenue. Continue your uptown adventure by exploring the American Museum of Natural History or any of the Museums (Guggenheim, Metropolitan Museum) along the Museum Mile.
See Dakota Apartments, home of John Lennon and his wife, Yoko Ono. Take in the stately Cathedral of St. John the Divine. See Grant's Tomb and learn about Harlem’s historic Apollo Theater where Billie Holiday and Stevie Wonder have played.

Gray Line New York Brooklyn Tour
 The Brooklyn Tour takes you to all the unique sights & sounds of this trendy yet historic neighborhood of New York City.
With an exciting personality that combines old & new, Brooklyn provides some of the most well-known of NYC’s landmarks. Enjoy views of the Botanic Garden, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, Antique Furniture District, Fulton Mall, The Brooklyn Museum, Grand Army Plaza, Cadman Plaza, Brooklyn Public Library and more.
The 2+ hour Brooklyn Tour leaves daily every half hour—10:30 am – 3:00 pm from Battery Place and State Street stop #12 on the Downtown Loop. This is not a hop-on, hop-off tour but the Brooklyn Tour can be combined with the Uptown and Downtown hop-on, hop-off tours.

 Gray Line New York Night Tour
The Night Tour is the only evening double-decker tour of New York City. The tour has numerous sightseeing & photo opportunities for guests of the familiar & iconic Manhattan skyline. The tour highlights nightlife in Times Square, Chinatown, Empire State Building, Greenwich Village, SoHo, & Brooklyn Bridge, among many others.
Multiple departure times and two departure locations make it convenient to join the Night Tour. This is not a hop-on, hop-off tour but can be combined with the Uptown and/or Downtown hop-on, hop-off tours.

Gray Line New York Manhattan Comprehensive Tour
