Darcie Kent & Underdog Wine Bar
Livermore Valley Ultra Modern Wine Bar
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
You’ll find Darcie Kent wines at the Concannon Hospitality Center. Stroll down the hall from the Connanon tasting room to the Underdog Wine Bar.
A swank, ultra modern lounge with a long bar, cool lighting, inlaid old-barrel-wood flooring and ceiling, Underdog is meant to appeal to the young set.
It’s a creation of the Wine Group LLC, one of the world’s largest producers of wine and owners of Concannon Winery.
Underdog is touted as a tasting room for “underappreciated and unsung wines of the world.” Here you buy small plates of food to complement some 48 international wines.
Darcie Kent is a fourth-generation vintner. Her grandfather Christian Ruegsegger emigrated from Switzerland in 1875 and founded his Alpine Winery in St. Joseph, Missouri. Darcie is also an acclaimed artist who creates her own labels. (Her paintings hang in public and private collections around the Western world.)
Darcie and David Kent scoured the western United States in search of the best place to grow world-class Merlot and discovered the cool nights and gravelly soils of Livermore where they now live with their two daughters in their vineyard on Crane Ridge. There Darcy paints and watches over her vines. Of late, she is venturing into aromatic white wines.
David Kent is CEO of The Wine Group.
