“Village of dreams” on the De Portola Wine Trail in Temecula Valley
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
While you won’t find an actual village at Leoness Cellars you will discover one of the most popular wineries on the quiter, less traveled side of the Temecula Valley.
The winery, founded in 2003 by two experienced local wine growers—Mike Rennie and Gary Winder, takes inspiriation from the meaning of the word leoness to fuel their goal to make world class wines from valley grown grapes.
The desire for excellence continues with “The Restaurant at Leoness” where a variety of dishes are designed to pair with Leoness wines. Al Fresco dining is available on Friday and Saturday from 11:30 – 8:00 or Sunday until 5:30.
There are a number of winery tour and private tasting options at Leoness and reservations are not only required but a good idea as the popularity of this winery results in the walk-in tasting room being pretty crowded at peak times.
White wines available at Leoness include the highly recommended Viognier, a Melange de Blanc and both a Muscat Canelli and Dry Muscat Canelli.
Red’s offered are Syrah, Cinsaut, Grenache, Mourvedre, Melange de Reves (blend of Syrah, Cinsaut, Grenache & Mourvedre) and their version of Meritage (blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot).
Leoness Cellars also produces a Rosé; White Merlot, and a fortified wine; Cinsaut Desert Wine.
Amenities: Frequent “Live Music Sundays,” restaurant, weddings, wine club.
