Gold Medal winner at the 2003 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition and the 2003 Riverside International Wine Competition.

The grapes for Deux Amis 2000 Sonoma County Zinfandel came from selected vineyards in the Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys. Three Zinfandel vineyards in Dry Creek Valley accounted for 67% of the fruit. One Alexander Valley vineyard provided us with the remaining Zinfandel and 100% of the Petite Sirah. The perfect marriage of toasty oak, soft tannins, well balanced fruit and spice make a wonderfully rich, velvety smooth Zinfandel. Its a robust wine, yet balanced with delicate flavors of fully ripened raspberries and a dusting of high grade white and black pepper.

For those of you who remember the '97 Sonoma County Zinfandel, the 2000 embodies many of the same qualities. A big ripe raspberry aroma mixed with just the right amount of black pepper creates the ideal Dry Creek Zinfandel character that Zin lovers crave. The perfect marriage of toasty oak, soft tannins, well balanced fruit and spice make a wonderfully rich, velvety smooth Zinfandel. It's a robust wine, yet balanced with delicate flavors of fully ripened raspberries and a dusting of high-grade white and black pepper. Although this wine will benefit with some additional cellar aging, it is so wonderful now that it is unlikely much of it will be left in our cellar a year from now.
