Carneros AVA Winery in Sanoma Valley, California
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
In the early years of the last century, six young Italian brothers left northern Italy for the U.S. with dreams of success—which they quickly found.
Over the ensuing decades, the Jacuzzi Brothers invented many devices, including a whirlpool bath that transformed the family name into an everyday word.
One of the brothers, Valeriano, founded a vineyard in Oakley, California where his grandson, Fred Cline, first learned about growing grapes and winemaking. In 1982, an inheritance from Valeriano allowed his grandson to open Cline Cellars. In 2007 Cline founded a second winery, Jacuzzi Vineyards, directly across the street.
The 18,000-square-foot winery, which is surrounded by beautifully-groomed grounds, resembles a palatial Italian villa. It’s also something of a museum, filled with Italian art, marble sculpture, antique furniture, and glass chandeliers from Venice. A three story tower with key-hole windows provides views of the surrounding countryside and the cloister like courtyard behind the main building.
Tastings here are an opportunity to learn more about Italian varietals such as Sangiovese, Primitivo, and many others. The winery is also home to The Olive Press, award-winning producers of fine California extra virgin olive oil. Both wine- and olive oil-tastings are complimentary.
The Jacuzzi Brothers invented the “Toothpick” Propeller, considered so significant in aviation history that it’s on display at the Smithsonian Institution’s Air & Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
