Bella Vineyards & Wine Caves
A small, off-the-beaten-path, family run winery on West Dry Creek Road near Healdsburg, California.
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
Scott and Lynn Adams established Bella Vineyards & Wine Caves in 1999 four years after being married in wine country. Multiple weekend visits and a partnership with Scott's father and three brothers lead to the purchase their first vineyard. They now farm three.
The winery itself is on, and under, Lily Hill Estate where rolling hills covered with 85-year-old vines provide fruit for their estate zin and cover for the wine storage and tasting room cave beneath Lily Hill. Another Dry Creek Valley vineyard, Belle Canyon Vineyard is planted with old clones and a family vineyard in Alexander Valley features vines planted in 1906.
Annual production at Bella Vineyards is 6000 cases — mostly zinfandel with some sarah and grenache.
A visit to Bella Vineyards begins in the small wooden winery building beyond a large tree shaded lawn scattered with picnic tables. Several tasting and tour options are available starting at $7 – 10 each with the Ultimate Tour ($55) combining cave tour, vineyard tour and Pinzgauer ride to the top of Lily Hill for panoramic views of Dry Creek Valley and ending with limited-release wine tasting in a private wine cave tasting room. Wine and food paring meals featuring Chef Bruce Frieseke’s menus are available by reservation — call well in advance.
