Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery
Ferrari-Carano has grown from a single 60-acre parcel purchased in 1979 to 19 estate vineyards in four appellations totaling 1,400 acres. The Ferrari-Carano Estate Winery in Dry Creek Valley, Villa Fiore, houses the valley’s most impressive hospitality visitor’s center.
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
Villa Fiore is where the company produces its white wines while Ferrari-Carano’s Mountain Winery Estate on the east side of Alexander Valley focuses on red wine production.
With estate vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, Russian River Valley, Anderson Valley, Carneros and two mountain vineyards, Ferrari-Carano is able to exercise total control over growing the grapes that go into their wines and to have fruit from a wide variety of soil and weather conditions to produce ideal blends.
Sustainable farming techniques are practiced including fish friendly farming, integration of cows and Baby Doll sheep into the vineyards for weed and grass control/natural fertilizer, support of honey bees and wild birds. Other environmentally friendly practices include habitat restoration and the use of dry farming of hillside and mountain vineyards to conserve water.
When you visit Ferrari-Carano in Dry Creek Valley be sure to take in the beautifully landscaped grounds. Flowers will vary with the seasons—wisteria on the entry arbor and tulips in the formal garden at the winery entrance are particularly impressive when blooming. Less formal gardens are in the shady area to the right as you enter.
A winery tour can be reserved in advance where knowledgeable staff will take you through the gardens, into the vineyard, through some of the production area—crush pad, tank rooms—and tasting rooms while sharing the history of Don and Rhonda’s first visit to Sonoma County and the events leading to what you experience today. Your tour will culminate in an offer to taste Ferrari-Carano wines. A number of specialized private tastings are also available focusing on a single varietal (Pinot), white or red only, pairing wine and food and more.
