Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours

Groth Winery reserve tasting roomGroth almost took root in Sonoma rather than Napa. Back in the early 1980s Dennis and Judy Groth wanted to realize a long-held dream of owning a vineyard and were seriously considering land in Sonoma. But then they drove over the Oakville Grade, a steep road across the mountain range that lies between Sonoma and Napa. At the crest they stopped to take in the breathtaking panorama of Napa Valley vineyards—and there was no turning back.
The impressive pink-colored, California Mission-style winery contains a grand staircase, bell tower, and a dramatic courtyard with a fountain. The stylish tasting room is decorated with works by the couple’s daughter, Suzanne.

Tours are given twice a day; they last about an hour—taking you from the vineyard and into the winemaking facility—and incorporate a tasting. A unique aspect of the tour is the Insectary, which contains more than 40 species of plants specifically chosen to attract insects that are natural predators to harmful insects in the vineyards. Seated tastings for a maximum of twelve are always done around a granite-topped table offering great views of the property behind the winery and, through a large half circle window, into the barrel room.
