Stag’s Leap District Napa Valley winery on the Silverado Trail
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
An impressive sight awaits as you turn from the Silverado Trail, enter the massive gates of Chimney Rock Winery, and head down the vineyard-surrounded drive. The unusual white-on-white, gable-roofed building in the distance, Chimney Rock’s hospitality center, was inspired by South Africa’s 17th century Cape Dutch architecture.
Inside, you’ll find the high-ceilinged tasting room to be a comfortable place filled with rich wood accents, a granite tasting counter, a large brass chandelier, and a fireplace that glows warmly in winter. From the building’s rear, acres of vineyards extend to the hills and offer a sublime view.
Founded in 1980 to produce Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux blends from estate vineyards in the southern end of the Stags Leap District, 119 of Chimney Rock’s 137 acres are planted to vines.
The winery produces three Estate-grown signature red wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, and Elevage (a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc); and a small amount of Elevage Blanc, a proprietary blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sauvignon Gris.
Chimney Rock’s vineyards are situated on the former site of an 18-hole golf course.
Amenities: Wine Club. Winery tours, by appointment.
