Napa Valley Winery on the Silverado Trail
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
Art Finkelstein and his family—wife Bunnie and son Judd—moved from Los Angeles to Napa Valley in 1979 for one simple reason: they wanted to make wine.
Art first founded Whitehall Lane Winery in St. Helena, later selling it. In 1988 the family moved across the valley to the Silverado Trail and started Judd’s Hill the next year. These days father and son work as a winemaking team.
This small, friendly winery offers a comfortable and intimate seated tasting in the winery building. But this winery goes a step further, trying to bring you right into the winemaking process itself.
Check out the MicroCrush program, which allows you to make your own wine—with help, of course—from Napa grapes (you can even design your own label!). Or consider Bottle Blending Day Camp, a half-day blending session that leads you through creating a few bottles of your own Napa Valley Bordeaux-style blend (it’s a terrific team-building experience).
Judd’s Hill produces a private label Merlot for the annual “Celebrating Wine as Art” program at Utah’s Sundance Resort and Institute.
Amenities: Wine club. Bottle Blending Camp (reservations necessary). Personalized winemaking service. Periodic events including Lobster Luau WineFest (August), Blessing of the Grapes (October), and Hanukkah Hootenanny (December)
