Family-owned and operated winery producing 100% Estate Bottled Wines
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
Mike and Bob Milat and their wives, Carolyn and Joyce, run a family-owned and operated winery and 20 acre estate vineyard in St. Helena, California. Mike and Bob’s parents, Richard and Izetta Milat, purchased the land in 1948 with plans for a summer retreat from city life in San Francisco but quickly established it as a permanent home to raise their four sons.
By the 1970’s Mike and Bob were managing the family vineyard, maintaining the vines and selling grapes to local wineries. In 1986, along with their wives, they produced the first vintage of Milat Vineyards wine and began selling it directly to the public.
A visit here is a casual, unhurried chance to taste 100% Estate Bottled wines poured by a family member—a rare event in Napa Valley. There is limited parking and the tasting room is small with no seating but the atmosphere is friendly and the person pouring the wine will be happy to answer any question about the wine or the valley.
Visitors to the tasting room rave over the Chocolate Port Sauce produced exclusively for Milat by a Napa Valley chocolatier using Milat’s Zivio Port-Style desert wine. Zivio is made from Zinfandel fortified with Brandy and aged in oak for two years.
Dida’s Roast with Wine Sauce passed down from Mike and Bob’s grandfather, who immigrated from Yugoslavia, is one of several family recipes using Milat wines available on the web site.
