Your Alcatraz tickets let you decide how long you want to spend on the island, returning as late as the last ferry of the day. The city tours are aboard an open top double decker bus. Alcatraz was used as a federal maximum-security prison from 1934 until 1963, when it was closed due to high costs and security issues. Over the years it was home to Al Capone, George "Machine Gun" Kelley, and Robert "The Birdman" Stroud.
There is a short movie you can view that describes the history of the island. Also featured is an award-winning audio tour in the prison Cell House with actual interviews of former guards and inmates (available in six languages - English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish). You will have time to explore the whole island, including the museum, bookstore and cellblock.
The ferry ride is around 10 minutes and the whole Alcatraz part of the tour takes around 2 hours. Ferries depart Alcatraz every 30 minutes — you can stay on the island as long as you like and return at your leisure.

Your Tour consists of three parts.The departure times will vary and the alcatraz tour make take place before or after the bus tour. We provide a booking service for purchasing Alcatraz tickets. Your order authorizes us to purchase the tickets in your name. You will pick up your tickets at the prepaid machine or prepaid window at Fisherman's Wharf. Picking up your tickets at the machine is the fastest method. In either case, you will need the credit card used to order the tickets as your identification. If you pick up your tickets at the ticket window, you will also need your driver's license or passport. Tickets may not be picked up prior to the tour date. Your credit card statement will show two charges - one for the City Tour or Muir Woods Tour and one for the Alcatraz tickets.
Your order does not guarantee availability of tickets. Alcatraz tickets are often sold out for specific dates and times. Your order is not confirmed until you receive an email from us advising that the order has been placed and confirmed. This email will have a link to your tour voucher. Alcatraz tickets sell out very quickly and often far in advance. If tickets for the date and/or time you need are not available, your will be notified immediately, and your order will be canceled and payment refunded if another date does not work for you.
There are no refunds, cancellations or changes for Alcatraz tickets.
Policies set forth by others will prohibit Sightseeing World, LLC from issuing exchanges or refunds after a ticket has been purchased or for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed tickets. So once tickets are purchased, that's it. Tickets shall be null and void and of no value unless utilized by the customer on the date and time on the tickets.

Any claim for a canceled performance/event shall be limited to refund of ticket price and service charge paid by the ticket holder. Such claim must be filed within 60 days after the event was to have occurred.
Ticket sales for Alcatraz are limited to 14 tickets per household within any 30 day period. Multiple orders which exceed the 14 ticket within 30 day limit will be canceled without notice.
To the extent permitted by law, the management reserves the right to refund the purchase price of the ticket and to revoke the rights granted herein. Alcatraz departures may vary. The order of the two tours may change from day to day.
We reserve the right to offer suitable substitutions due to special event closings, unforeseen availability or circumstances beyond our control. Travel SF assumes no responsibility for delays caused by accidents, breakdowns, road conditions or other circumstances beyond our control. We do not guarantee to arrive or depart from any point at a specific time. Travel SF operates under the authority of the California Public Utilities Commission and is fully insured. The operator furthermore reserves the right to upgrade, alter or terminate any or all of our tours due to security, weather or acts of god. This tour should be booked at least 72 hours in advance of your tour date. Confirmation for this product will be received within 24 hrs. of booking.
